We’re up against PAC attacks, disgusting personal smears and national pundits who think we can’t make a difference in Texas. But we won’t be distracted. We’re running a campaign based around a simple idea -- that every Texan should have a voice in Austin and real opportunities to succeed. That means ensuring that hardworking Texans can find work, our children have access to quality education, and women aren’t paid less for the same work simply because they happen to be women. Every Texan deserves a voice. That’s why I filibustered to protect education funding a couple years ago and again last year to protect women’s access to health care. And that’s the lens through which we’ll view every issue we face in this campaign. We’re also facing a big deadline coming up on Monday -- the end of the first month of the general election. And campaigns aren’t only about having the right perspective and priorities, they are about having the resources to get that message out to voters. To do that we have to hit our $300,000 goal by the deadline. And right now we’re only about $20,000 away from doing it.
