We’re very excited to announce that Garden State Equality’s work will be soon featured in a major motion picture!! “Freeheld”, which began filming last week, stars four-time Academy Award™ nominated actress Julianne Moore, Academy Award™ nominated actress Ellen Page and Golden Globe™ winning actor Steve Carell as GSE’s founder Steven Goldstein. Based on the 2007 Academy Award™ winning documentary of the same name, “Freeheld” tells the story of Lt. Laurel Hester, a 23 year veteran of the police force in Ocean County and her fight to have her pension passed on to her domestic partner. Diagnosed with cancer and given only months to live, Steven Goldstein and Garden State Equality help Lt. Hester and her partner in their fight for equality!
