We’ve heard several people in the media telling us that if the races of George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin were reversed, the shooter would be going to jail. Everyone from Al Sharpton to Jesse Jackson has chimed in to tell us our legal system is racist, but they’re wrong. The next time you hear someone make that argument, tell them about Roderick Scott. Roderick Scott is an African American man who shot and killed 17-year-old Christopher Cervini in 2009, in a case that is shockingly similar to the Zimmerman-Martin trial. Scott told the court that he heard voices outside his home early in the morning on April 4, 2009. He looked outside to see three people on his property, walking out of his driveway. He assumed they were stealing something from him and Scott went outside to stop them from getting away. He brought his gun tucked in his pants because he knew he was outnumbered. When Scott yelled at the three individuals to stop and that the police were on their way, Mr. Cervini ran toward him. Scott shot his gun twice, and went back in the house to dial 911 again. When the police arrived they arrested Scott and initially charged him with second-degree murder, but the charges were dropped to manslaughter before the trial. RELATED: Obama Uses Taxpayer Money to Finance Trayvon Martin Protests After more than 19 hours of deliberations over two days, Scott was acquitted of all charges based on his claim he was acting in self-defense. Christopher Cervini’s family did not agree with the verdict, but President Obama, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton did not console them. The national media completely ignored this case. This case highlights the extreme liberal bias present in mainstream media. From blowing this case out of proportion while hundreds of other African Americans were being shot in the United States, to showing Trayvon Martin’s picture from when he was fourteen instead of the tattooed seventeen year old that was on top of George Zimmerman the night he tragically died.
