We’ve learned that Sen. Feinstein pulled her faux drought bill after dozens of environmental groups and two editorial boards urged her to rethink her approach. The bill was widely expected to weaken environmental protections, repeal the Merced as a protected Wild and Scenic River, and take water from N. CA and give it to San Joaquin agribusiness. However, this bill could easily move by the end of the year if a member of Congress buries it in a must-pass spending bill required to avoid a government shutdown.
