Whale Festival @ Bondi Beach (4th Annual) Sunday 23 June, 10am to 3.30pm Bondi Pavilion forecourt, in front of Marine Discovery Centre. Come along to the Marine Discovery Centre in Bondi Pavilion to celebrate the 4th annual Whale Festival @Bondi on Sunday 23 June, 10am to 3.30pm. Visitors can meet “Venus”, a life-size 16metre inflatable Humpback whale; Free face-painting for kids and WIN great prizes (including a family whale watching boat trip!) by decorating your own ‘Save the Whale Tail’ (over one thousand of which will be put into the sands of Bondi at the end of the day to create a Giant Whale Tail visual that says ‘hands off our whales’ to the International Court of Justice!). You can also learn lots more about whales and what we can do to protect them with experts from whale conservation organisations at info-stalls on the Pavilion forecourt. The highlight of the day is a FREE guided whale-watching walk to Marks Park Headland with Dr Michelle Blewitt of Marine Mammal Research (MMR). The end of June is the peak period for whales passing Sydney on their migration north and we will getting ‘whale-alerts’ by phone from National Parks & Wildlife volunteer whale counters at Cape Solander; however, please note sightings are not guaranteed.
