Whaling on Shamu Walmart is about to own the entire banana industry. Back in 2005, Walmart bought up 80% of all grocers in Central America; by buying CARHCO. Central America is home to the poorest of poor (worse than Mexico) including Costa Ricans, Guatamalens, Salvadorians, etc. Buying up the Banana plantations is having a monopoly on workforce , customers, and now total commodity. Yet Walmart sells green bananas (in effect pickles) for outrageous profits, yet we have to wait and ripen these for forever for what use to be an immediate snack?
