What. A. Day. I am so incredibly blessed by such a wonderful group of ladies in the Police Wives of Kentucky private group. Some of you may not know, but we have what we call a SWAT (Supportive Wives Action Team) group, too. These are the ladies who take words and put them into...well...action. When met with a hurt, or a need, they come together and serve. I am saddened by the amount of stress, sickness and other issues there seems be facing our teams, but they just keep on giving and loving. It blows me away. With everything theyre currently facing and the publics not-always-supportive views on law enforcement, our PWoK ladies continue trucking without slowing down. My heart goes out to each of them, and I wish they could understand how much I admire every effort they make for our blue line family. Ive refrained from much of a direct post on Ferguson, but I can definitely tell the ones on my friends list who dont have any idea what its like to be married to an officer. Their posts and attitudes are so disconnected, naive and blind. Ive had to remind myself daily that they dont know, because they cant know. Its not something anyone can relate to, unless theyve stood shoulder-to-shoulder with an officer who has just faced the wolves. I praise God for their lack of understanding, because it means they havent had to confront the issues one on one. As its been said, People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. Tonight, while I am thankful for so much, Im especially thankful for every first responder. Bless you and your families, and know youre in our prayers daily. -Brandi
