What A thrill to be able to visit the kids old-school and see their old and still best friends! Prairie Winds Elementary School is special because not only did they love and nurture Jonathan, Jenna, and Ju, but they have kept up with us along our journey through Jus illness and our journey now as we #WalkAcrossAmerica. Last year, the school had a Disney Dress Up Day and raised $431.00 to Make-A-Wish in Julias honor! Principal Aileen Finnegan, Ms. Barb and Ms. Shy in the office greeted us with hugs and kisses that meant so much!!! The ladies gave us a spring picture of Ju that we had not ordered then. How special to have it now. We even met and talked for awhile with the retired superintendent, John Borman. Great man with a dry sense of humor:) Visiting school was like taking a step back in time. We were all worried about how our feelings might handle this visit, but we felt good that we retraced our steps with Ju. Even Jus kindergarten teacher, Miss Johnson, greeted us with such memories and warmth about her time with her in kindergarten. She had ironically just mailed me a sample of Jus handwriting that she had saved and found just the other day. (I MIGHT be able to look at it in 10 years...). Just days later, Miss Johnson brought her family and her two dogs to walk with us!!! Jennas best friend, Audrey, came with her family and we had a huge crowd walking for pediatric cancer awareness!!! #Disney2Disney #JuCan - PrairieWindsCan - GODCAN!!!
