What Absurdity!! How is the Nigerian Church connected to the $9.3 scandal? How can the issue be an attack against the Nigerian Church or Christians collectively? When Saudi Arabian authorities detained Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gummi for eight months for undisclosed suspicion in 2010, why didnt he seek to divert attention by claiming that his detention is an attack against Nigerian Muslims? When the U.S. led coalition started bombing the Al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front terror group in Syria, its leader claimed that the airstrikes represent an attack against Islam! Can religious faith be held accountable for the misconduct of their leaders? If religious leaders are involved in scandals or crimes directly or indirectly, they should be personally accountable for their actions, and not the Church or the organization they lead. The Church or CAN as an organization should be taken out of this issue. Oritsejafor should defend himself in his private capacity instead of dragging the Church or the entire Nigerian Christians into it. If Nigerian Christians are collectively accountable for the private actions of their leaders, then why are other Christian leaders such Cardinal Okogie criticizing the CAN leader Oritsejafor? Let us draw a line between the private actions of religious leaders and the collective interests of those they lead.
