What Are You Thinking? By Emmanuel Olatunji. The biggest - TopicsExpress

What Are You Thinking? By Emmanuel Olatunji. The biggest and most pivotal lesson I learnt when I was a student of the School for Personal Leadership(SPL) was that; I am a product of my thought. One course that was treated during that session taught me to be mindful of my thoughts. I wish there are words strong enough to express how vital our thoughts are to us. No man is greater than his thought, you are what you think you are. Just like the words of Jean-Paul Sartre; My thought is me: that is why I cant stop. I exist by what I think...and I cant prevent myself from thinking. This is a very crucial topic. Every success stories begins from thinking. No man ever attain success without thinking, I mean positive thinking, you just must think! Everybody can think, but its regrettably lugubrious that many people do not engage in serious thinking. Just like the words of one wise man only five percent of people think, 10% of people think they think and the rest would rather die than think. What about you that thinks, what are you thinking? Thats the basis of my note today. Is your thought life healthy? Do you know why many people remain stagnant in life? It is because they either dont think or their thoughts life is unhealthy. Positive thinking is an imperative for anyone to become successful. I dont know what you wish for in life, but before you can do anything meaningful you must activate the pensive mood of your life and go into a critical thinking exercise. Thinking is usually hard work and difficult, because it requires total attention and concentration. Just like one quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, it says; What is the hardest task in the world? To think. There are two types of thinking, positive and negative thinking. Negative thinking or anxiety are unhealthy to the body and soul of a person, but positive thinking is an integral trait of anyone who will become great. Olurotimi O. Odejayi, the Author of the book DARE TO PONDER wrote intensively and extensively about thinking in his book. He also noted that his success story started from a pensive mood he had after he had been sacked from his place of work. His first book was elicited from that pensive mood he had on that fateful day. Today, he his a man who has his own publishing firm, he has written his own book, and he is doing several other things. The point I want you to note here is that, you need to start thinking positively. One of my favourite writer,in person of Ben Carson, also wrote about the importance of thinking in his book Think Big. He implicitly highlighted the various people who made it big by thinking big in that book. If you also want to make it big, then I implore you to start thinking big, too. Bishop David Oyedepo says; It is your mental picture that determine your actual future. I agree with him because the Bible also supports this fact. As a man thinks in his heart so he is. And thats why I wrote earlier that, no man is greater than his own thought; you are what you think you are. A negative mind will never give u a positive life. Unhealthy and negative thoughts mars peoples destiny. It destroys lives. What you think, will definitely turn out to be what you do. Little wonder, Norman Vicent Peale, an American minister and author (most notably of The Power of Positive Thinking) and a progenitor of positive thinking advices that Change your thoughts and you change your world. See, I can go on and on to write about this topic, but time and space hamstrung me in my quest to do that. But before I stop typing, Id like to advice you not be too concerned about what people think about you. What people think about you doesnt really matter, what matters is what you think about yourself. People will definitely think a lot of things about you, they might even express it or speak of it, but you need not go overboard about what people thinks, do, or say about you, rather activate the pensive mood, and think up! To bring about the conclusion of this note, Id like to leave you with words of Norman Vincent Peale; Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture. Do not build up obstacles in your imagination. Think up! Think big!! And become big!!!
