This is, of course, an excerpt from my proposed memoirs, and as such must serve no other purpose but to tantalize in its brevity) For one very brief moment, I was angry enough to have assisted Cristiano in his suicide attempt, if in fact, that was his desire. One quick shove and no one would have been the wiser. Surely, Cristiano wouldnt be the first idiot to have fallen to his death from this cramped peak. However, that would have left me alone, still faced with the terrifying prospect of climbing back down on my own without a guide to show me how it could be done. Happily, Cristiano will never know of that decisive moment, when his life hung on the slender thread of craven necessity.
