What Can They Say? By Kenrick Georges September 4, 2013 It would be very interesting to hear the noise that would be generated from the empty barrels in response to the great master move by the Labour Party, selecting Konris Maynard in Constituency #3. The mode of attack from the collective opposition is always the same; to get personal, but this is a good one. They would hardly respond to any cohesive, and factual information exposing their underbelly, except to slander those who are willing to stand up and deliver. While young candidate Maynard is the son that many of us wish that we had, we must expect the creature to be faithful to its nature; thus, someone’s character would be selected for shredding. I have heard a strained voice condemn Contender, Konris Maynard’s father, for having an advisory position to the PM. But Contender is a tough customer who has been tried by fire, as many have under a PAM administration. He can defend himself. But how soon they forget. Many of those who are now griping in their sad corner were themselves power brokers, advisors, and some were given ill-advised positions. For instance, an individual widely known to have sticky fingers, and with the scars to prove it, was put in close proximity with money, and served in other capacities as well. What actual damning information can they conjure up to diminish the impact of this young star, a well loved social and cultural icon? The token stand-in for PAM might as well bow out gracefully and save himself a severe whipping and further embarrassment. It is very reasonable to expect great things from Konris because of his disciplined up bringing by his parents, and his resolute nature. Many of us have succumbed to what is known as youthful indiscretion, which our young candidate in #3 seemed to have ridden high above. However, I am sure that in his wisdom, young Maynard would remain mindful of human frailty, letting his love for his people, and country be the force that propels him forward, holding the hand of God in the process Now, the clarion call has been made and each post has been manned with young, strong, and formidable candidates. We boast the leadership of an experienced, battle-tried, and forward-looking general as we march forth and valiantly continue the fight, which started almost a century ago. We see the future with clear eyes, as the brilliant light of dawn touches our face: yes, the dawn of a new political, and socioeconomic dispensation for our people. Challenges will only serve as milestones on our journey forward, because nothing shall stand in the way of our people’s progress. Our concerted effort is to deprive those with the economic power from dictating the terms of political power as well…we have seen that play before.
