What Do We Know About Heaven? Neal Pollard It Is HOME. Jesus is preparing that place (Jn. 14:1-4). We have a building of God, an house not made with hands...(2 Cor. 5:2). It is that long home (Ec. 12:5). It Is ETERNAL. The salvation enjoyed will be eternal (Matt. 25:46). To the obedient, Christ becomes the author of eternal salvation (Heb. 5:9). Christ obtained eternal salvation for the faithful with His own blood (Heb. 9:12). In heaven, the saved will enjoy the promise of Christ-- eternal life (I Jn. 2:25). It Is APPOINTED. Christ will divide the saved from the lost (Matt. 25:31-34). The appointment is inevitable (Heb. 9:27). Heaven is preparing for the appointed day (1 Th. 5:1-2). Heaven is promised to the prepared (1 Cor. 9:27). Only those baptized in Christ (1 Pet. 3:21) and faithful are prepared for this appointed. It Is VICTORY. The saved will bask in the victory made possible by the cross (Jn. 3:16). Those overcoming will gain the victory of Jesus (Rev. 15:2). The born of God overcome the world (I Jn. 5:4). Heaven is the final victory. It Is EXCLUSIVE. It is entered by a narrow gate and strait way (Matt. 7:13-14). It will not be opened to everyone saying Lord, Lord, but rather those who do His will (Matt. 7:21). No one will accidentally make it to heaven. It Is NEW (2 Pet. 3:13-14; Rev. 21:lff). This life is the veil of tears and continuous sorrows (Job 14:1). In heaven, there will be no tears (Rev. 7:17). In this life, death is common (Heb.9:27). In heaven there is no death (Gal. 6:8). This life encumbers with sin and temptation (Rom. 3:23). In heaven is no sin (Rev. 21:27). Heaven says, All things are new here (Rev. 21:5)! In view of that place called heaven, every lost soul should obey the gospel (Acts 22:16). Every Christian should remain faithful (Rev. 2:10). Christ tells all to lay up treasure in HEAVEN (Matt. 6:20)! POWER is a monthly publication of the Southaven church of Christ. This article may be re-printed and freely distributed.
