What Do You Sow? Aug 05 0 Monday 05, August 2013 TEXT: GALATIANS 6:1-10 KEY VERSE: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” ( Galatians 6:7). Christopher Sholes was once concerned about his pastor who’d been busy all week visiting victims of an epidemic, comforting the bereaved and conducting funerals. Consequently, he had no time to write his Sunday sermons. One day, Sholes, discussing with a friend what should be done, said,‘It seems a pity there aren’t a quick method of writing for busyfolks like pastors.’ His friend replied, ‘Why not invent a machine?’ Sholes replied, ‘I’ll try.’ That rainy afternoon was the beginning of months of hard work. Finally, a group assembled one day to see him type out on paper in capital letters, C. LATHAMSHOLES, NOV 1867.” If the world owes such ground-breaking technological development to Christians, it certainly owes far more to them for the hope they have brought to depraved and forlorn man through the gospel of Jesus Christ. What would have become of humanity without the teaching that God cannot be deceived nor be mocked? The whole of Adam’s race would have receded into jungle law without the teaching that “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap”, and that we should “not be weary in welldoing for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.” Today’s reading also exhorts us “to do good to all men”. Since Christ brought peace to our troubled world, it is the sacred responsibility of all saints to show forth the praises of Him who saves and calls out of darkness into His marvelous light.Good works, piety, deeds of kindness and hospitality must always flow from the bosom of grateful saints. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Everyone will reap the fruits of the type of seed he sows.
