What Donna Finney will accomplish as your Mayor: Donna’s 2013 - TopicsExpress

What Donna Finney will accomplish as your Mayor: Donna’s 2013 Platform Donna has many ideas that would ultimately improve Mayfield Heights, benefitting residents and businesses as well. Using a commonsense approach, she will make no promises other than to study and propose implementation of the most feasible and favorable ideas. •Regionalism: Carefully balance the fiscal opportunities afforded by joining with other communities for shared services with the local sentiment to remain an independent political entity. •Economic Development: As a city that has little developable land, as well as partner to a countywide anti-poaching agreement, our focus should be redevelopment of existing commercial areas. •Infrastructure: Working closely with county, state and federal agencies and judiciously seeking grants, maintain and upgrade our streets and utilities. Promote environmental “green” programs that address run-off issues. •Fiscal: Very simple—budget sensibly and stay within budget to avoid long-term debt. Set aside “rainy day” funds for emergency use. •Economic “perks”: Work with local businesses to promote savings for Mayfield Heights residents. •Health Care: Mayfield Heights is fortunate to have a crown jewel, the Cleveland Clinic’s Hillcrest Hospital. Donna Finney will work with administrators of the Clinic to provide more community outreach programs to our residents. Some of the programs that Donna would like to implement are Immunizations for children, flu shots for all residents, health clinics to help those with little or no health insurance; podiatrist, eye, and dental clinics; as well as many other beneficial health programs. •Study the feasibility of opening a Dog Park for our residents to provide an opportunity for their dogs to play in a dedicated area. Add more walking trails for those who enjoy walking in a healthy and safe environment. •City services: Expand Building Department hours to provide services necessary to our residents who are not able to meet during normal business hours. Having evening or weekend inspections will allow residents to meet a Building Inspector without missing work. •Parks and Recreation: Add programs for children and teenagers. Make even more wonderful activities available. Open a sprinkler park that would be fun for our younger residents and families and eliminate some of the crowds at the main pool. Donna will work diligently to update our pool. •Seniors: Although many programs exist to assist and entertain seniors, more can be added to address needs, such as daycare and more senior/disabled transportation options. Finney will Conduct surveys on the popularity of senior/disabled homeowner programs such as driveway apron plowing in winter, leaf raking in the fall and help with other issues that may be pertinent to improve the lives of our older citizens. MOST IMPORTANTLY, DONNA FINNEY WILL INSIST THAT EACH RESIDENT AND EACH BUSINESS BE TREATED WITH EQUALITY AND FAIRNESS. SHE WILL NOT ALLOW POLITICAL FAVORS. WHEN ELECTED MAYOR, DONNA FINNEY WILL NOT USE THE OFFICE— SHE WILL SERVE THE OFFICE AND THE RESIDENTS OF MAYFIELD HEIGHTS! KEEP IN MIND, OPEN AND HONEST COMMUNICATION WILL BE THE WAY CITY BUSINESS IS CONDUCTED WHEN DONNA FINNEY IS ELECTED MAYOR! THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND IMPROVE YOUR VIBRANT COMMUNITY. WRITE DONNA YOUR SUGGESTIONS ON HOW YOU FEEL OUR MAYOR SHOULD AND WILL BEST SERVE THE COMMUNITY. DONNA WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU AND PROMISES TO LISTEN TO YOUR IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS. Donna R. Finney can be contacted anytime on her cell at 216-780-5762 or via email Dfinneyiii@aol .
