What Happened to Mr. Bennett? Much of his strength and will to endure and persevere was fueled by his wife, my mother, Barbara. But now and again even Mom was just so overwhelmed with seven children, countless pets, even stray kids and teens, a sick husband, and much, much more, that Dad would call Auntie Carol to the rescue! Dad would slip a hundred dollars in Carols purse (mind you $100 went farther in the 1970s) and Carol would sweep Mom away for the weekend. Theyd go to Reno or just drive up the road to San Francisco. Just as long as Mom got away for a day or two. She never knew Dad arranged and financed those little get-aways until many years later. Here is Auntie Carol and Mom- The beginning of a road trip and the unfortunate tire incident about mid way through, but the girls didnt let that stop them from having fun! Happy TBT!!
