What I cannot take away from Goodluck Jonathan is his scholastic achievements that further validate his PhD-- that which raises doubts in the Nigerian public space. His research thrust for a doctoral dissertation, I gathered, was on the Ecology of Mangrove Intertidal Amphipods. Kai! From my findings, I saw that no Nigerian had previously carried out any in-depth study on these tiny but ecologically relevant crustaceans, until Jonathans intervention. He was even a member of the Editorial Board of the Transactions of the Nigerian Society for Biological Conservation. Jokes apart, Patience Jonathan wasnt wrong when she said Jonathans brilliance was the reason she fell in love with him. A researcher with the Twitter handle @Zuby215 has provided us screen shots of articles [co]authored by Jonathan found in the reputable Web of Science. I have perused these papers. The paper, High cholesterol diet Induces Baroreceptor dysfunction in guinea pigs was published in 2004 when Jonathan was already into active politics. This, I think, portrays him as a committed researcher. While Jonathan remains undeserving of my vote in 2015, I think this, for the records and to be fair to his scholastic efforts, is necessary.
