What I cant understand is why anyone decides to become a member of the Liberal Party. Its easy enough to become a liberal with a small l I suppose. God knows liberals with a small l display such a wide range of viewpoints theres enough for everyone to take their pick. But if you hold liberal views of any sort surely the last thing you ought to do Is become. a card holding member of the Liberal Party. Because that way you are not ever - ever- going to get into power. And the logical way to go must be to join a political party that might hold power and then nag away from the inside I can only conclude that people who become official Liberals do not want to be in a position to influence events or people. They want to remain on the sidelines, where they can feel smug and superior when others get it wrong..
