What I dont like is that there are some generalizations in this item. The man himself is a Muslim I guess and an Arab at that; still he dares to step out of the domination of society and religion. He can clearly debate and think independently. I remember the late Najib Mahfouz of Egypt, Nawaal Al Sadawi (whom I had the privilage to meet and talk to her), Mohammed a Taha of the Muslim brotherhood in Sudan who was hanged by Numeri at the age of 80/82 ... professor Abdullahi A Naim who signed my call a letter of peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea in 1998 together with more than 32 peace laureates and national leaders...
