What I learned at LDS General Conference today: Themes: Repent: His arm is merciful. We need to seek our own witness and build our own testimony, Unity, Boyd K Packer: 1. The Topographical Guide, under Jesus Christ, is one of the most complete, consistent, and harmonious witness of the deity of Jesus Christ. 2. From the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 25:26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins. From the Bible: 2 Corinthians 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 3. The mercy and grace of Jesus Christ are not limited to those who commit sin. His mercy is extended to the suffering and innocent. 4. When you are crying out in your heart, someone must pay for this! remember, someone already did. 5. Unity: for the body is not one member but many. Lynn G. Robbins 1. Which way do you face? Are you representing Jesus to the world or the world to Jesus? 2. Remember you are accountable to God not the world. 3. The guilty taketh the truth to be hard. Cheryl A. Esplin 1. How can the sacrament be a holy communion each week? - be willing to take upon us the name of Jesus Christ. - Want what Jesus wants. - always remember Him 2. As we partake of the sacrament we covenant to remember the Savior always not just during the ordinance of the administration of the sacrament. 3. When you feel like you are making the same mistake over and over, instead, focus on all of the the enabling powers of Christ: every time you received strength, chose the right etc. 4. His arm of mercy is extended and whosoever will repent He will receive. 5. When I think about the old man who couldnt hear or see and why he said he continued to attend the sacrament, my strength to ensure reverence during that ordinance is strengthened. Chi Hong Wong 1. Mark 2: 1-5 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. 2. Dont give up! Reach out! How can you be like the examples in this scripture to your friends and loved ones? 3. In case anyone was wondering, the spirit is just as strong when the words are being translated. 4. We have to work together in unity and harmony, united in our Lord Jesus Christ and His work. 5. Our combined faith will effect the wellbeing of others. D Todd Christofferson 1. There was so much good stuff Im embarrassed by my summary. You must read/watch this talk. 2. Who bears responsibility for what goes wrong in our lives? 3. We have the principle decision making role on our own lives. To act for ourselves and not be acted upon. 4. God does not save us just as we are. 5. He will not act to make us something which we do not desire to become. The real manifestation of His love is the commandments. 6. Personal accountability must be defended. 7. Take responsibility to go to work so that there is something for God to work with. Dieter F Uchtdorf 1. The truth doesn’t change, but our capacity to understand it expands. 2. When they don’t understand, people try to condemn, or ridicule because they have not yet received the more complete light of truth. 3. God himself has given his children the promise that they can know truth for themselves. 4. God cares about you, he will listen and he will answer your personal questions. You need to learn to listen to His voice. He wants you to find your way back to him. And to learn of his son Jesus Christ and experience the joy that comes from following His commandments. 5. You must search the words of God with a sincere desire to discover truth. Ponder things you feel, and prepare your mind to receive the truth. Even if you no more than desire to believe. 6. Consider, ponder, fearlessly strive to believe, and be grateful for, how merciful the Lord has been to provide prophets. 7. You must ask for your own witness if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, with real intent of heart. If any man will do Gods will he shall know if it be of God or if I speak of myself. You must first live the commandments to know it they are ture. Put them to the test in your own life. 8. This personal testimony of the gospel and this church is the single most important thing you will do in your life. 9. 1 Corinthians 2: 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 10. There is no sign that says your testimony must be this tall to enter. In the end we are all pilgrims seeking Gods light as we journey on the path of discipleship. We nourish and encourage all light until it grows clear bright and true. 11. It is not once and done. The process of gathing spiritual light is the quest of a lifetime. #LDSConf #ShareGoodness
