What I should have said: I’m sorry, I’ve always given to Christian Aid and for a few years in my youth I even did the job you’re doing. But the charity’s relentless, one-sided and frankly worrying obsession with the supposed sins of the worlds only Jewish state, and the only democracy in the Middle East, has made me reluctant to lend it my support.
