What IS it with Superhero television shows and movies? Just last night, I finished up with watching Arrow. (As I dont have cable, and sometimes my Netflix account doesnt always have the shows I want to watch - its become increasingly clear over the last few months that Putlocker is the place to go for free-streaming of movies and television shows.) If youve seen a few of the later episodes of Smallville, starring, Tom Wellington, as Clark Kent - then youve probably run into his friend and ally - Green Arrow. After some reluctance...of which, Im not sure exactly where it might have come from - I started watching Arrow. I really liked the cast, storyline and the emotion threading its way through each episode, and on into the next season. I can sum it up basically as follows. Oliver Queen, son of an obscenely wealthy father, goes out on vacation by ship, and after the boat goes down in a storm, he washes up, alone, on an island. He learns very hard lessons about survival and becoming a warrior who can withstand torture. For five years, except for a short stint, when hes captured on a boat, he remains on that island and makes some very powerful friends. After those five years away, hes able to make his way back to his city; but his mother, sister, best friend, and former girlfriend, had all thought him dead. Over time, he develops new friendships and faces questions that every hero seems to face, such as whether to lie to those closest to you, in order to protect them, and how far you might go to do that protecting. Would you kill if absolutely necessary? - And what makes it necessary? I like the show, because it shows how a man goes from being a selfish, unreliable jerk, to a hero, who must make life and death choices on a daily basis, and keep others from finding out how much those choices affect him and his relationships.
