What Im about to tell you is a true story that happened not 10 minutes ago. It is a story that deeply annoyed Laura (she was napping) but more importantly became the ultimate shut down..for a credit card scam phone call. Ill try to sum it up. When you read it know that his accent was a confusing mix between Indian and French : I answered the phone and listen to the fake schpeal of credit card services which aplenty holds god like power of every card and bank and can lower your interest rate. I gave my bogus info and then we got to the credit card number itself of the card company I didnt own. I began 1 He repeated 1 2 He repeated 2 3 Repeated 4 Repeated 5 Repeated 6 He stops me and asks that I give him the number thats own the card again. I said ok....1 He repeated 1 We got all the way to 5 and he asked if I was joking. No Im not. This happens every time and its so embarrassing So he asked for it again. 1 He repeated. Until we got all the way to the number 10. He stopped and assured me that it wasnt a scam. I told him I would feel much better if he had my name because I thought it was suspicious he didnt need my name for all of this. So he asked for it. The first name is Johnny with two Ns I said then the last name is spelt D He repeated D E He repeated E P He repeated P P He asked me to spell it again. This time I did it with the whole D as in dog breakdown. When we were done he repeated my name ...Johnny Depp. Yes I confirmed. The actor Thats right. Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2, 3 and Im working on the 4th this summer He asked for my card and I asked what Pirates movie was his favorite. This went on for a while. I finally asked him for the website. He said there wasnt one because they wanted to avoid scammers. I gave him a business scolding on it being bad promotion by comparing it to the promoting of Johnny Depp movies. I finally told him I would give him my card number. He got excited. I interrupted his response -IF you tell me you favorite Pirates of the Caribbean movie. He then said he was going to have his supervisor take over the phone call. I asked if he was a fan of my films. That I would talk to him if he wasnt. Then I continued about him being an Orlando Bloom fan and that my performance was way better. He eventually just stopped talking. I asked for him. But nothing. Fake Johnny Depp had done his part and all was right in the world. But it DID ruin Lauras nap.
