I cannot understand how people cannot be outraged by our costs incurred in seemingly a useless war. It is intolerable, it is wrong, and it is deplorably unconscionable. War is abhorrent yet we happen to be quick as well ill-advised in deciding to go to war. The self-righteous have started wars. What are we to do? Stop being self-righteous and use reason instead. A soldier is like being sent into the demon hole and to be thought to emerge not cleansed by a trinket or some medal when he is gone being killed. Does a token measure to some real warm and hale. Never mind that the human mind is not built in witnessing repeated trauma or the human mind, conscious and humanity be capable to disengage. This is especially if it is recurrent. Memories imprinted and the brain replaying a horror vision. I do not think we were meant having wars and not suffer effects on our human psyche. One of the most disturbing thoughts I have haphazardly come upon is many domestic abusers have a military history. In other words one cannot turn on the valve of injustice and harming our fellow man without harming self, and society. This is something to ponder for every leader of the United States. I am very aware of human fatalities. The fact which is not addressed is the PTSD factor.
