What Should Daily Living be Based Upon? 1 Corinthians 3:1a Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly... The word translated as worldly is from the Greek sarkikos. It means carnal or fleshly. Therefore the worldly person is one who is dominated by the inclinations of the flesh. Take a moment to think about this from Pauls perspective. He was faced with the same nightmare every minister of the Gospel deals with to this day -- those present in his congregation who profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, yet have little evidence of spiritual growth in their lives. So what was Pauls solution? How was he to preach? What should he preach about? His answer: only the basics, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly... The question still persists: Why were the Corinthians so worldly even after being exposed to such great preaching by the likes of Paul, Peter and Apollos? Perhaps they never connected the concept that daily living should be based upon Christ crucified and glorified. How is your life affected by Jesus Christ? Not just your eternal destination, but right now today? How will He influence your commute, conversations with co-workers, a lunchtime server, or the others in line at the grocery store? Have you welcomed Him into every aspect of your life? pocket testament league
