Western Ave., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73106 Deets: What makes a man? This question has been asked millions of times through the ages and with varied response. Novelist Mark Twain suggested that, “The clothes make the man,” as “Naked people have little or no influence on society,” while Henry Beecher assures, “A man is one who always finds excuses for others, but never excuses himself” and Andy Rooney inquired simply, “Would a real man get caught eating a Twinkie?” It appears then that a man is defined by many things; the greatest of them being his actions. Three metro arts professionals have come together to organize a landmark exhibition and event celebrating men to be held at Istvan Gallery and Urban Art complex on Father’s Day weekend in Oklahoma City. Steve Boyd (Exhibit Manager and Curator, Oklahoma Contemporary), Stephen Kovash (Owner/Operator, Istvan Gallery) and Tony Morton (Gallery Director, Paseo Originals Art Gallery) began planning The Manly Show at the close of 2013 with a desire to answer the question, “What makes a man?” Link to keep track of the event and/or add it to your calendar here:
