What We Stand For - Introduction As with any political party, the Independence Party of Minnesota has a “platform”. That platform is a list of the beliefs and ideals upon which our party stands. The Independence Party of Minnesota’s platform contains 10 “Core Values”, 6 “Principals” and 47 “planks”. While some people may disagree with these 63 statements of belief, it is inaccurate to claim that the Independence Party of Minnesota does not stand for anything. What is accurate is that many Minnesotans do not know what these beliefs are. This election season, I will be writing about the most dramatic, most controversial and the most important beliefs of the Independence Party of Minnesota as they are presented in the party’s platform. I hope you will discover that the Independence Party of Minnesota is not a party in search of an identity; rather it is a party in search of courageous people willing to let go of the status quo and fight for real political reform that returns government to the people.
