What We’re Up Against People often complain that in contrast - TopicsExpress

What We’re Up Against People often complain that in contrast to past generations the present generation is astonishingly biblically illiterate. This was forcefully illustrated last night on the game show Jeopardy. The contestants on this program display a familiarity that is truly amazing with the most obscure and trivial facts. But last night the clue was “Ancient caravans would stop in Capernaum, Israel, to buy fish from this nearby lake.” All three contestants stood there dumbfounded. One blurted, “The Dead Sea!” This wasn’t just wrong but inept—why do you think it’s called “dead?” None of these seemingly brilliant people had a clue about the name of this lake which features so centrally in the Gospels.
