What a Pride ! And What Achievements ! The Memories of the IAF days and the gratitude for those days is seen here in a post from Veteran Wg Cdr Joseph Paul. The two photographs are a Gem of a memory with the Veteran officer and they are a treat to see. God bless you Joseph Paul that you remember the days in uniform so fondly. Please read on:- Hi, In 1980, I had the wonderful experience of going above 30,000 feet AMSL on a Mig 21 Trainer, as the Engineering Officer of 17 Sqn, AF. In 2012, at the age of 55 and 13 years after PR, I touched almost 20,000 feet after a successful ascent of Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. After 4 days of trekking and a 7 hour midnight climb, the last half hour from Stella Point to Uhuru Peak was especially tough due to fatigue, though this portion was free of big rocks and the gradient was tolerable. I was fortunate that I did not have high altitude oxygen deprivation related issues which caused most of my fellow trekkers to drop out. I almost gave up, but remembered my AFTC, Bangalore camping treks and started doing a route march shouting Left-Right, Left-Right. Later on, the guide in my group mentioned that it was the first time, he had seen anyone marching to the peak. Veteran Wg Cdr Joseph Paul (15612) AE(L) Service from Jan 1979 to Jan 1999.
