What a big night it was for turtles! On Algodoeiro on the west coast of Sal we recorded eleven nests and many other false crawls (tracks where the turtle did not nest). As this is the beach that suffers a lot of light pollution from hotels, all the nests were moved into the hatchery. That meant that in five hours our eggs increased by a massive 878! Moving nests can be time consuming and tricky because accuracy and care is needed, so extra hands had to be drafted in to help as well as extra buckets! All over the island there were 33 nests and all turtles went back to the sea safely!
