What a cold, cold day! …as the rain drops increased more and more this morning, I wrapped myself as if to say No going out today… Then I thought of those early mornings in P.S Azire, When my sports teacher would hurry us up, As we run round the school field chanting: “We are so cold in this morning, We want to jump, jump, jump, jump…” Then I thought of the nauseating heavy phlegm He gathered in his mouth each time we joke, Then I thought of how he cleared his mouth of the phlegm, And he would spit it out ‘praaaah’, He spat carelessly, And stared up at the merciless sky as if he’s done nothing, Causing us to skip as we come near it, The ground was harder under our feet like stone And some pupils slipped into his mess, soiling their PE’ And take their bare feet out of the phlegm, Walked in silence, Of course, we had no voice to caution him… Then please Madam would continue the warm up As she would make us sing: Rain, rain go away, rain, rain, go away, Go and come another day, Little children want to learn…
