What a couple of great days off Baltimore in West Cork, dolphins - TopicsExpress

What a couple of great days off Baltimore in West Cork, dolphins in huge numbers on Thursday, nice footage Richard. Friday started out with a minke whale in Baltimore harbour early in the morning (thanks Eoin Ryan), Three minke calves/ juveniles 500m south of Baltimore harbour and two more off south harbour, also harbour porpoises of Bird island in Cape Clear (Nic and Richard). In the afternoon during our trip we encountered porpoise off kedge island and while waiting for them to resurface we were surprised by a juvenile Minke whale surfacing beside us, and passing around the boat a few times before heading south. Ten minutes later we stopped and watched foul on the water, and were rewarded by having 6-8 minkes (4calves/juveniles) surfacing on all sides of us. We headed for the kedge island and encountered another minke inshore. Another porpoise or two as we headed for the Gascannan, where we spoke to Jerry Smith who had a minke and dolphins with him moments earlier. Diarmuid Minihane also reporting dolphins north of Cape Clear to us. Thanks to all who assist us everyday by sharing their sightings with us. Baltimore the whale and dolphin watching capital of West Cork.
