What a couple stressful days we have had at Lost Paws. Stevie - TopicsExpress

What a couple stressful days we have had at Lost Paws. Stevie became ill on Christmas Day evening and we rushed her to the hospital first thing Friday morning with a 105 degree fever. She was vomiting and not acting herself. After fluids and a hospital stay she was able to go home. She ended up then having water toxicity and showing neuro symptoms after having a seizure. Stevie has been doing well since coming home from the hospital on Sunday. She seems to not have any permanent damage and is acting her silly self again. Then today after breakfast this morning our beautiful Miss Piggy was not acting herself while outdoors playing with her friends. We noticed her gums were white and she was standing still in the sun looking disoriented. We rushed her to the vet to find some type of mass on her spleen when looking at her X-rays. We made the decision to stabilize her and then go right into surgery to removed a massive growth on her spleen that had ruptured leaking blood into her abdomen. Hours later surgery was complete and Miss Piggy was stable enough to go home. She is being watched closely tonight and will go see Dr Jarvis at North Kenilworth in the morning. We are so lucky we were able to get her in right away and get her help. We are also so thankful to Beardsley Animal Hospital for getting her in and essentially saving her life. Please keep both girls in your thoughts and prayers, especially Miss Piggy. A biopsy will be done on the spleen and tumor and we are hoping to get back good news about our sweet girl. We are so ready to say goodbye to 2014 and welcome 2015 with open arms! Anyone else feel the same way? Thank you so much for your support friends.
