What a dangerous and ignorant discussion. I personally don’t want to believe that general American thought is nourished by these provocative and “asymmetric psychological warfare instrument” type of TV Shows. As watching this stupidity, I remember the legendary Gore Vidal and his latest study before his death. “The United States of Amnesia”. Although “Amnesia” is a modern day illness for most societies in consumer economies, it is not the same for the Middle East cause - as many anthropologists claim - it is a predominantly verbal culture and Amnesia is absolutely wont grow in these lands. Simply, they don’t forget. They don’t forget millions of children and women tortured, raped and insulted by western military boots on the ground at least for a century. They dont forget, a privileged few of their own countries became traitors and collaborators of the western imperial elite and left the millions drawn into the mud of income inequality. In fact pain and poverty are two main igniter of radicalism in any society.So it did in Middle East and gave birth a brutal terrorist organisation called ISIS!. Though Middle East is not the only Islamic land who have problems to forget the pain of the last century. In our century, we witnessed horrendous scenes in Bosnia! again there are other scenes which did not erased in the concious of the people of Caucasus, and Eastern Turkestan. Though the parties were different, the traces of pain still dominates the memories to this day. These scenes may be forgotten in western societies but surely it is not in Bosnia and elsewhere in Muslim countries. So is it wise enough to blame every bad thing happened in human history on religions? The answer should be NO!. As a proud Turkish Muslim woman, I strongly believe the true believers of Christianity, Judaism and Islam never and ever accept any brutality against humanity! Making delicate operation of holy books as many did in this commentary section wont prove anything cause we all know and believe that the holly books are complete structures and nobody can make any judgement over individual verses. What we need is not to accuse any our moral understanding to justify our failures but to create wise thoughts together to create a common language of wisdom. Ignorance should be our enemy not the religions.
