What a day! Great weather, cycling, cycling superstars and company. An early start from Daylesford had us at the spectacular Mitchelton Winery near Nagambie in country Victoria. Mitchelton is owned by Gerry Ryan who has Orica Greenedge and Jayco Caravans as part of his empire. The boys from Orica were out in force including Simon Clarke, Simon Gerrans, Caleb Ewan and Mitch Docker all coming along on the 3 rides available. We opted for the 48km ride and having only a couple of hundred metres of climbing it shuffled along at a pretty decent pace. It certainly is different from the constant climbing of the Hepburn region. Post ride it was time to get changed and relax under the shade and enjoy the wine and music. The pro riders were introduced and interviewed on stage by Scott McGrory so it was a pretty entertaining day. With the amount of rides on offer it is often hard to choose but I can highly recommend this ride. See you next year Mitchelton!
