What a day. He ended the conference with this. Mani Shankar Aiyar (Member of Parliament and former Indian diplomat) – “Rising, shining, emerging India. People say that the demand for laborers is aplenty in India and employment rate is increasing, with our supposed economic boom and GDP growth rate of 7%. I will give you an example. When the blacks were slaves in the United States, the employment rate of blacks was technically a hundred percent. So, if in India, we don’t pay wages, I am sure, there will be a hundred percent employment rate. There is something called a decent wage, something called a just and fair employment of the daily wage workers. You, the corporate world, exploit them.” To a crowd of 124 corporate house representatives –CEOs, Directors, Project Heads in a conference organised by FICCI and Deutsche Zusammenarebeit called Alliance for Integrity, regarding corporate responsibility and ethical business conduct at Imperial Hotel, New Delhi. None of them clapped.
