What a day! Here is some pictures from the Phoenix Art Museum. The black installation is pieces of a burned Church in Texas. The name of the piece is Mass. Its very striking as you approach it. When you get close and see the charred pieces of wood. The piece is very dense in the middle and then thins out towards the edge of the cube, it makes you question is it mass as in volume (?) or mass as in people(church). Another picture of a painting called Flowers was one that my mother and daughter and I saw when we went to a Norman Rockwell exhibition. It took me awhile to find it! But it was in the same space as a Frida Kahlo Suicide and A Georgia OKeefe. It was truly like coming home and seeing an old friend. I spent 5 hours today in that place and it just flew by. It was so nice to see the city skyline of Phoenix from an artist point of view. You stand looking out over the city that is framed with glass. What an awesome day!
