What a day. I made homemade split pea and ham soup, maybe like a lot of you did with holiday leftovers. Loads of carrots and celery and yellow onion, meticulously prepared. Hours of simmering just to get the broth perfect before adding the rest. The recipe even called for a touch of red pepper flakes, which should have given the tiniest hint of heat, perfect for this cold winter weather. One would think. I dipped in a spoon when it was ready to serve. I had a slice of fresh rye to go with it, and a glass of homemade hard cider. When the soup hit my tongue I emmidiately thought This is the best fsckin pea soup Ive ever.... And my thought was interrupted by the sensation of fire in my mouth. I immediately began to feel my face turn red and beads of perspiration instantly started fleeing the inferno that my head had become. I ate the bread. I drank the cider. Fast. And after a glass of water, I checked the recipe. Turns out I added 8 times as much red pepper flakes as I was supposed to. Now I have two gallons of liquid fire. Ill still eat it. But Im gonna need some beer for this meal. Catch you on the other side? #spontaneoushumancombustion
