What a day! On the eve of Tessas sweet 16; we ventured to Bowling Green so Maggie could tour WKU. Only her friend and one other young lady made it for the tour as it was COMING A BLIZZARD!. No one else showed up so it was nice, intimate, and relaxed. We enjoyed a great lunch with good friends then back in time to get Maggie to her first day at her new job. we picked up Randys truck at Kingreys Auto Repair and it runs awesome!! then I delivered a friend something she wanted (good things i try to repay). then we ended up at KFC where I knew the young men working! ugh, made me feel old since I babysat one of them! Tonight tho, I was driving the car with johnrobert. randy was picking up maggie in the truck. As we drove out hwy 63 toward home, I saw a raccoon in the opposite lane that had obviously been hit but was still in the road alive. I went up to our road and turned around. i stopped about 15ft from the raccoon and got out my footed. cane from the trunk. i keep it there in case my legs give out (stupid MS). So I went up to it, its nose was bloody and scraped its leg was injured and it was breathing quite erratically. I didnt want it to get hit again so i pushed it gently to the side of the road with the cane. as it laid there, i began to pray God not let it suffer, i reached down and gently stroked its back, its fur thick in the winter cold. Its eyes began to glaze as I thought of my Tessa. This is something she would do as well. It settled as I sang quietly to it. Again asking GOd not let it suffer. as my own tears fell and my nose began to leak; I wiped my nose with the back of my shirt sleeve (also something Tessa would do HAHA) and walked back to the car. I think I felt Tessa smile.-
