What a day. On the way home from footy and an accident occurred - TopicsExpress

What a day. On the way home from footy and an accident occurred involving 3 cars. One of the cars held 2 little girls. Both mum and I were worried and pulled over. Not one single person bothered to stop and help the people involved. Mum stopped and I ran to the accident to help the mother with her two young girls at age 4 and 1. The mother tried contacting her family whilst I pulled the girls out of the car who of course were crying due to shock. I sat the girls down and got them settled with a bottle of water and checked to see if they were hurt. Luckily only one of the little girls had bruising due to the seat belt. Instantly, i felt as though my ambition to be a police officer kicked in and I proceeded to. Check on the young couple also involved in the accident. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. One of the ladies involved asked me if it would be wise to call police and an ambulance and I advised it would be responsible to do so, considering the man who caused the accident left the scene! I began asking the girls and everyone else involved if they needed anything whilst I stayed at the scene and took care of the girls. I also asked a lady from the pub (which is where the accident took place, on the great western highway) if there was any way we could have the CTV footage. I waited with everyone involved in the accident, keeping the little girls occupied. The ambulance and tow truck arrived whilst police were looking for the driver whom left the scene and had other officers attend to the accident. Sadly one of the cars was a complete ride off for a young couple. I could not believe that someone could be so heartless and leave the accident in which they have caused, putting other people in danger not knowing whom he could have hurt! When I left the scene, the mother whom I had helped with her children was beyond grateful for everything that I had done as well as mum offering to help through the phone. The lady could not believe that a teenager actually came to not only her aid, but also her children. At the end of the day, I felt as though I had helped people in need and hopefully some day when I am a police officer dealing with unfortunate situations I will remember this day and know that I am capable of doing the job as well as knowing it will all be worth it to help a person/people in need. Thank you to my mother Renee Hubbard who patiently waited for me while I helped everyone as well as giving me advice (thought the phone) as to what else I could do for everyone.
