What a day. Took MIL & her partner to the christmas fayre at the dockyard never got there. She unfortunately tripped about 200yds from the dockyard gate and badly gashed her fore head on a bench as she went down. Took over an. Eventually got to A&E at QA to only wait over 2 hours for her to be seen, weird set up on how they decide to see patients, Lee quite of lost it with a triage nurse. A complaint will be sent to QA as I always thought chest pain & head injuries were to be a priority not where QA is concerned. Then to top it all when a nurse did finally decide to see her could she talk where we were sitting as there were no rooms available. What a joke. Eventually a doctor said that her wound was so deep he could see the bone. They are keeping her in just to make sure she is ok. Was told that because she did not black out or be sick was not classed as an emergency. People should be seen in order that they arrive not for triage nurses to shuffle patients paperwork and decide who is urgent. Urgent patients normally arrive by ambulance and are taken straight to a cubicle not the A&E waiting room. Rant over.
