What a day.......... Yes July14th my birthday (not that I want reminding anymore)... then Germany my adopted team for this World Cup and finally the bestest of all my daughter Latifa passed her last paper and she officially is a graduate from Auckland University. I remember attending a meeting at her High School with the staff of her school and the Education Department after she was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. The Education Ministry people said that we should be happy if she just gets through school with the minimum of credits just to get the certificate. They said she didnt need to take hard papers such as English but rather concentrate on easier papers to get through. The reasoning was she was going to end up in a wheelchair anyway and it was rather that she at least got a NZCE qualification to her name. Well stuff you Education Department (or whoever represented them that day) my daughter has now got a Bachelors Degree in English and she is planning to do her Journalism Degree soon. Dont discard people because of their disability because everyone is taken care for by the Almighty. God Bless. Yes July 14th a day to remember.
