What a great day for Bob !! We went to the VA Dental today for what we thought was just a regular appt to get some rough spots fixed on his obtoruator. To our surprise, his permanent obtoruator was ready. For those of you that are not familiar with what a obtoruator is. It is a prosthetic jaw with a denture attached and held up my implants that go up to the cheek bone. For Bob this journey of Oral Cancer and losing his complete upper jaw and teeth has been, as you can imagine, a very difficult and long road. To finally get his smile back is a dream come true. He had a temporary obtoruator, but there were always issues. Looks like we can now put that all behind us. Many thanks to the VA in Dallas (Dr. Niak). Yes, it took almost a 1 1/2 yrs (they dont move too fast), but we can finally say it was worth the wait. Bob has been smiling all day.
