What a hectic but thoroughly enjoyable day ! Today, we presented our annual band & organ concert at the Penistone Paramount. The All Star Brass Ensemble were brilliant and played a wonderful selection of music which delighted the near capacity audience immensely. I did my bit too on the Compton, which sounded great in straight mode. Thank goodness that the Compton is operated by a Uniflex relay system. It made life so easy this afternoon and as a performer, I was able to relax into the performance, due to the control system working as a superb performance tool. The band parts were not in the standard concert pitch keys that Ive played these arrangements in with other bands. With Uniflex, I was able to quickly transpose the organ and play from the usual conductors copy, without laboriously having to re-write the arrangements in a different key. Because todays programme involved a number of straight organ registrations being required, I programmed Uniflex to produce several rank mixtures and other pitches to obtain a more powerful traditional classical organ sound ...... The effect even made my spine tingle. The whole concert was a great success, as the audiences shouts for more proved. Lots of positive feedback from the audience at the end of the show, including requests to perform the entire concert again next year. Feeling very tired now but it has been a very productive and satisfying day.
