What a long day today was, I just now got back to the Easter Seals - TopicsExpress

What a long day today was, I just now got back to the Easter Seals house. But it would have been a longer day if I hadnt been there! That I do know... So the newest updates are a lot better than the previous post today. He is now switched over to the conventional ventilator and is managing quite well. Hes actually adapting to it very well. With the jet ventilator he was on before, it would cause him to have a shake to his whole body, which is meant to be there, while using the jet. It was caused by the source of oxygen that was running through warm water, then transfer to his lungs, it has a motor type of box that has to sit inside the next to him to provide the shake. Without the shake would mean that he would need directions or he has to be repositioned. Now with the conventional ventilator theres no se company.. So that alone would be a big change for him considering he had been on the jet ventilator most of his life. With the conventional the ventilator it would allow the doctors and the RT to see where hes at in terms of a day two exclamation. His right lung has improved and is gas levels in his blood are proof of that. He will be getting a new x-ray at 6 a.m. For a clear picture. I get to change his diaper tonight for the first time and also took a temperature.. We just weighed him 2 times. He was at 2035 grams before. The first time the results were at 2180. And the second was at 2220 grams. Woohoo, the nurse couldnt believe it. She said that were going to go with the first reading. This is good because thats all that we are needing from all areas to improve. If hes growing, his lungs are going, his brain is going, and this is our main goal right now. These are words from Dr Singh. In the morning the whole complex nutrition team involving approximately 10 to 12 people including the RT , bedside nurse, head nurse, surgeon, staff doctors neonatologist, dietitian, resident doctor, mommy, Daddy, and all other doctors in the NICU at the time, will be having their weekly rounds at 1130 AM. Dr Susan told us last Tuesday that each Tuesday , at 1130, is our set appointment time for this round. Its basically the same as our daily rounds but with a lot more details, involving every team that he has or will be working with. I will post after this round is over. Xxoo
