What a lovely idea to share your birth stories on here :) I gave birth to my beautiful boy almost two weeks ago on monday 18th august 2014 at 2.08pm. After slight pains that gradually worsened during the day, I went up to the birth centre at around 9pm sunday evening, to be examined and told things were happening but I was not yet dilating, so off we went back home for about half an hour, before the pain was very quickly stronger and more intense! Arrived back at Burnley to be told I had quickly got to 5cm! :) I had a lovely midwife called Janet looking after me through the night, she was very caring and calmed me down loads with the help of the pool, gas and air and diamorphine which meant I relaxed and slept through some of the pain (aswell as having a few panicky moments! Sorry Janet!) Janet stayed beyond her shift to make sure we were ok and introduced us to another amazing midwife called Aimee Holdsworth who took over my care that morning. I was fully dilated by this time, but was told due to babys posterior position and head needing turning, we would have to go to theatre for an assisted forceps delivery or possibly c section, which was very daunting.Aimee kept me calm throughout everything, a truly fantastic midwife who made it an enjoyable experience for myself and my husband right up to taking us to postnatal ward after the safe delivery of Joseph. Everyone from the theatre staff to health care assistants and bf support were just amazing. We have nothing but praise for all the staff at Burnley, the care we recieved for myself and our gorgeous boy was second to none and we wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to anybody. Thankyou so much! Laura, Gary and baby Joseph xx
