What a lovely morning, Fresh Air Friends AND friends of Fresh Air. I just had a conversation with a young family who wants to join our community because we welcome everyone without limits, rules or requirements and because we dont preach hate, hellfire, and condemnation. I thought this might be a good time to repost our mission statement for everyone in our FB group to read and consider. We are very aware that the largest growing demographic in Christianity is the uns or the nons. These unaffiliated good people still long for community but are set adrift due to rabid fundamentalism and religious rigidity. They are people of deep faith who are also keenly aware of scientific advances and our greater understanding of our universe and ourselves. They want things of the spirit and a nurturing community wherein they can employ their hearts, minds and spirits in worship. At Fresh Air Community of faith, our hope is to be a place where these spiritual folks can find acceptance within a faith community and connection with all that is Sacred and Holy. Fresh Air practices GODS EXTRAVAGANT WELCOME and in that spirit we welcome all Homo Sapiens! Below you will find our mission statements. Peace, Love, and Community, Pastor Ange _________________________ The Fresh Air Community of Faith does not embrace statements of faith that appear to speak for all its members. As individuals who call themselves Christians, we hope to lovingly follow Christ in our daily lives, recognizing that the journeys are as varied as the people who make them. In fact we believe many things about God and Christ, the Bible and tradition. Most of us recognize that we have been shaped into Christians by denominations, parents, biblical interpretations from teachers and ministers, culture, family, friends, and life experience. We delight in community and trust in Christ. Overall, we…. hope to live in the spirit and power of Jesus’ life and words, expressing his love to others as best we can seek community in the name of Jesus that is inclusive of ALL people, without limits recognize that our treatment of others may be the fullest expression of our love of God in this hurting world find grace in the search for understanding and believe there is great value in living with the difficult questions a serious faith can raise as individuals and Christians, commit to a path of life-long learning and spiritual growth while serving others with compassion and a desire for peace, all in the name of Jesus. ______________________ Please join our wonderful faith community each Thursday evening at 6:30. We meet in the lovely sanctuary of St. Lukes Lutheran, 4200 Epworth Rd. Newburgh IN. Just across from Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
