What a mindblowing experience to visit Greenland to write songs - TopicsExpress

What a mindblowing experience to visit Greenland to write songs and play gigs. The Arctic Sounds Festival, though happening for the very first time, was IMHO an undoubtable succes. Any minor glitches was quickly and easily saved by dedicated volunteers and staff. Its fair in this respect to mention the initiator and primus motor behind the operation, Mr. Jacob Froberg . Hats off to you Sir :-) All started Tuesday with a three day workshop by Brett Perkins. Ended up on Thursday with two finished songs and two that needs a little more work. Thanks to my co-writers: Christian Møller Haase, Thelma Kajsdóttir and Kristian Mikkelsen (GR). Friday setting up the stage at the Hotel Sisimiut with very appreciated assistance from Jacob Svendsen. A true brother in arms. Started the stage up doing FOH on Simon Lynge, after unfortunately having to leave the presentation-concert of the workshop for logistic reasons (overlap). Hit the stage myself for a solo appearance after Simon. Minor crisis as my head apparantly was still bumping around down behind the console ;-) Engineered the rest of the night with Jacob, ending up at 18 hours of work and not able to sleep really in the polar spring. Its day all the friggin time ;-) Saturday having time off, as Jacob Svendsen was hired on the spot to run the FOH that day. Apparantly others were thinking way more about my wellbeing than I did. Thanks :-) Played a very nice and fun gig in the evening closing the hotel stage, with Brett Perkins & The Pawnshop Preachers as pedal-steeler. My mind was at ease and I had a great time. Thanks to Brett Perkins, Troels Alsted (Pistol), Anders Holm Mortensen (The Lake), Jon Strider and Jakob Rønlov. Ended Saturday with a surprise guest appearance on the big stage in the local sports arena, with the other participants of the workshop and cool bands like Small Time Giants and G-60. Participants entering and performing in rapid succession, me entering with a deafening yell like GOOOOD EVENIIIIING SISIIIIIMIIIIIUT in a pretty loud michrophone. Immediately kickin off a somewhat speedy and loud version of Thoughts On Track (Ole Toxværd/K. C.). That was R&R :-) Sunday was an easy going program, at least on Jacobs and my stage at the hotel. I managed to meet up with Thelma beforehand, and pretty much finish the second of the songs we started past Wednesday. Basically two distinctively different songs by the same two writers in one day. Aint that something? ;-) Jakob Rønlov, drummer of Pawnshop Preachers, made his very first appearance as performing songwriter. A very convincing debut. I had the pleasure of sitting in on steel on four of his songs, which was again a nice break :-) Next was Sofia Ekberg who had me on stage again for our co-written title track from her recent EP All The Small Details on guitar and harmony. Jacob Svendsen himself closed the stage with a soothing and laid back live performance of his really cool work. Great after party as Jacob and I had taken down the stage after his set. Couldnt sleep anyhow, so I stayed until very late. Best possible company :-) After a couple of hours of light sleep just below the surface we left Sisimiut airstrip 10:30 Monday morning. Half an hour flight to Kangerlussuaq. Airport security a drag as always. Plane left with an hour delay. Still couldnt sleep. Had a hard time on the plane, but evrybody was so nice. Close to power surge after collecting luggage at CPH. Cap home. Cried my heart out for 20 seconds. Lovely Laila took very good care of me, until sleep at approx 02:30, strangely envigorated. Was torn out of a nice arctic dream by the alarm at 05:55. Hit the ground flying and did an effective day of janitoring, being off duty at 2. Home, slept an hour or so. Finishing this note and getting ready for an early night. First one for a week. Ill do it all again or die trying. GOOOOOOOD NIIIIIGHT COOOPEEEENHAAAAGEEEEN :-) https://facebook/klauscapranisongwriter
