What a nice day ... Devonport was a quaint hamlet of Victorian houses sitting by the waters edge across from Auckland. Went a walk along the shoreline path looking out over the bay and listening to the waves lap the shore, then climbed a volcano cone (hill). Was only a few hundred metres high, but gave an unobstructed 360 degree view of auckland and the surrounding inlets, bays and islands. Then back across the bay to auckland on the ferry, and a bus out to mission bay, which is restaurants/cafes, small park, and a strip of beach with adjoining path divided by low wall that New Zealand people just come down, sit along, and look out towards the sea and islands. Stayed out there until the sun started arcing into the horizon, watched it set, and then walked the 4 mile walk back into Auckland along the waters edge as dusk gave way to night while "listen up" by Oasis played in my head (no music, just the feeling the day left inside me).
