What a night...oh and yes I am going to vent...and hopefully get some input... So, I am working...There are 3 of us working, Me, H and L. H is on cash and L and I have like 7 tables between us...very slow night...but have been told to not cut the floor till about 7....it is 6:40. The cashier had to call the boss about another matter and when she was done I asked to talk to him. L had been sick for 3 days and I thought I would see if I could let her stay to close up so she could make some money...but when I talked to the boss he got poed and said that his plan was that I, as manager, should learn everything (drive through, cash and wait tables) so I could cut everyone and that I should close every night... Well, that is all fine and well...to him. But when I make less than $20 on most week nights, and $45 to $60 on 2-9 shift...how does that work for manager pay? I do get $3.50 an hour. But let me tell you how a night goes... I go in, the first thing I have to do is clean...the place is a wipe out on most days and I can not work like that...so I clean everything up and re-wipe some tables that have sticky stuff all over them...if I do not customers ask me to....I usually can get that done b4 I do get busy...then I have to stock coffee, decaf, tea, cups, cut lemons, napkins, open a ketchup and get sugar and sweet&low so I can fill what needs filled. There are 31 tables that we have to go through...a lot of nights we still have to fill tables that no-one on our shift had customers at. Then as the night progresses, We have ketchup, 3 sauces, napkins and sugars on most of the tables...that I try to get filled to save time. Then at the end of the night we clean and shut down everything...Sweep and mop the whole front. Tues and Wed I do this alone, Thur, Fri, Sat and Sun there are two servers but if we are not busy I am to cut her at 7. So that still leaves most the cleaning to me... Then, every other Sunday is dump night, all sauces are dumped cleaned and refilled, new ketchup put out (if we have it) or cleaned with clean lids and the salt and pepper dumped. (the morning shift will fill the salt and pepper, but we do everything else) All while waiting on tables and doing all the other stuff. Now tonight I am informed that not only would I be responsible for all that but that of the cashier too after I am supposed to let her go...Here is what SHE does...She takes most the call in orders and drive through, sacks it all, deals with the drive through window ( drive through mic is broke so ppl drive up and honk all night) Cashes out the customers, makes and fills the ranch, tarter bottles, both sauces for the drive through and take outs and helps walk food if needed. Her closing duties are sweep and mop her area, the corner, bathrooms, hallway, and cashier front. Clean the bathrooms, make sure all her stuff is stocked and clean door windows. Then cash out and count her drawer. Most of her closing duties would fall on me too if I had to let her go...Oh no...that is not in any way shape or form going to be worth what I make...oh he tells me I would make cashier pay? The whole night? or just after I send them home? I guess if he actually came in at night and seen all we did, or cared at all about his business and not just the money he makes...he might understand...He might actually APPRECIATE his help...But he was the one that told me str8 to my face...I KNOW how to run this business...Yes you do...right into the ground...The customers were right, the place was filthy, no one cared...I came, I cleaned that place up and my customers seen and commented on it...and I got yelled at because someone told him I said it...well, it was not me...but it is clean now... I sent the day manager a message saying I quit...she called me and asked me to stay for at least a week so she could find someone... I like her and I do not like leaving her hang, but I really want to send x-boss a message and tell him to do dump night, wait tables, stock everything send his cashier home and then clean everything and sweep and mop it...himself...see what he makes in tips and if it is worth it to him... What say you?????????????????????????????
